Oxford News and Events

Located in the quiet community of Oxford, PA in the East Nottingham Township, Wiltshire at Oxford is a community of about 165 homes launched by Wilkinson Builders and  completed by Frost Development Corporation.  This community was built in two phases and all the construction of homes is now complete.  Our community is located a quiet rural setting but in close proximity to shopping, churches, schools and hospitals.  The community is also in close proximity of major cities like Newark, Wilmington and Philadelphia which makes this community an ideal place to live.

Community Watch: 4/3/2008

On 4/1/08 there was another car break-in at at Slate Hill Drive.   Homeowners are reminded to be diligent about locking their cars and front doors.  Keep garage doors openers out of sight and don't leave valuables in the car.

Additionally, if possible,  please keep outside lights on at night to act as a deterrent.  It's very dark on many of our streets as few homes keep their lights on.  Please let the board know if you know of any other events in our community.

Suggestion: Home Depot now carries wall lanterns with sensors that are triggered by movement which can be a more economic option  in the long run if you are concerned about  leaving the light on at night.

ATTENTION:  Spring clean-up is coming.  East Nottingham is getting ready for spring.
As part of the clean up they will be sending a Sweeper around in early April to clean up the cinders.  Please be sure they are swept off the sidewalks and into the street for clean-up.  If possible please make sure cars are not parked on the street otherwise they will not be able to clean that area.  They will be sponsoring the annual clean up some time in April so keep looking for updates as to the dates and times.

 Update from the Township meeting:

  • NEW Speed Limit Signs on Apple Tree and Slate Hill.  The ENT Supervisors and Road Master reaffirmed that the speed limit within Wiltshire is 25 mph.  They have installed signs reminding people of the speed limit.  Now that the signs are posted the State Police can also ticket.

  • Additionally they have agreed to bring the issue of parent parking on Wickersham at the school entrance during afternoon hours to the Oxford PD.

  • The Road Master and ENT Supervisors are also looking into the possibility of lowering the speed limit on the part of Wickersham that is 35 mph.  They are willing to do this if it can be done with out a new traffic survey.

  • They are also meeting with the bus company to see if there are options for school bus stop placement that would minimize children having to cross over Wickersham.

  • We made the ENT Supervisors and Road Master aware of issues on Phase 1/2 Apple Tree Lane, Slate Hill and Old Library Lane for road improvements.  They will begin work some time this spring on the drains, curbing and road issues.

Once we hear of any additional action on these items we will post it here.

East Nottingham Township Snow Removal Notice

As we near the winter season, East Nottingham Township is preparing for its snow removal program. Snow removal on Township roads is a service provided by the Township.

In order for the Township road crews to clear the snow from all Township roads, the roads must be clear of all obstructions so that the snow removal equipment may access all sections of the roadway, including cul-de-sacs. Therefore, the Township requests that, between November 1st and April 1st, all Township roads, including cul-de-sacs, be kept completely clear. Accordingly, please remove all vehicles, recreational equipment, including basketball hoops, hockey cages and other equipment, trash cans and all other items from the Township roadways. Snow removal will not be possible in any area where these items remain.

Further, please be aware that during heavy snows the accumulation of heavy snow on the roads may result in damage to mailboxes during plowing of the roads. Such damage is the result of snow accumulation and is not the responsibility of the Township. Township road crews will take all possible precautions to avoid such damage, however, cannot be responsible to repair or replace mailboxes damaged in this manner.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Township snow removal program, please contact the Township secretary, Pat Brady. In the meantime, your consideration and adherence to these requirements is greatly appreciated.
